Serve With Us!
Wesley Memorial Methodist Church is a service oriented congregation with opportunities for people to apply their spiritual gifts to show the love of Christ.
Santa's Helpers

Join us for Santa's Helpers the 2nd Saturday in December every year. Contact the church office at 936-295-7459 to learn how you can volunteer or support the ministry to ensure that 400+ Walker County kids experience the love of God through gift-giving this Christmas season!
Children's Ministry
Children's Committee: This Committee is a group of youth and adults dedicated to ensuring that the children of Wesley and the community are actively engaged and included in the programmatic and spiritual life of the church. If you would like to volunteer to help with, or lead, Children's ministries at Wesley, please contact wesleymemorial1938@gmail.com or call the church office at 936-295-7459.
Wesley Nursery: Wesley has a nursery available on Sunday mornings during both Worship services and Sunday School. Nursery workers are also available for meetings or other church ministries.
To reserve a nursery worker, please contact the church office at 936-295-7459.
Children’s Special Events Committee:
Plan activities to bring children into a closer relationship with each other and with God. We work to provide our children with a safe, loving, fun-filled environment where they can connect with other children and learn about Jesus in a meaningful and relevant way.
Children's Sunday School meets in the Sunday School wing to the left of the main entrance. Parents are welcome to attend one of our adult Sunday School classes.
Youth Ministry
MYF (Methodist Youth Fellowship) is an organization designed specifically for youth in the 7th - 12th grades. Currently they meet every Sunday during the Sunday School hour and have various activities throughout the year. At Wesley they are involved in Santa's Helpers, a mission
project that provides toys to 400+ children in Walker County that would not otherwise have a Christmas.
Confirmation in The Methodist Church is a time of intentional preparation, leading to the first public profession of faith. During this time young persons "make firm" what has gone before: God's prevenient grace, baptism, the teaching and witness of parents and other persons of faith, the teachings and life together in the church, the student's own growing faith. Youth are invited to claim for themselves the name Christian. Confirmation is a significant step in the journey of faith.
Adult Ministries
Choirs

The Choir sings during worship every Sunday. They also perform a Cantata during Advent. Throughout the year they practice every Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. They are always looking for new members. Come—share your talent and lift your song of praise to Him.

The Wesley Ringers rehearse every Sunday before Sunday School at 9:30 a.m. If you are interest in playing the bells, even if you've never played before, you are invited to join us.
Wesley Methodist Women

Purpose: Methodist Women shall be a community of women whose purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative, supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through
participation in the ministries of the church and community.
The Wesley Methodist Women meet the first Sunday of every month following the worship service. They have an annual Bazaar the 2nd Saturday of October and meet at various times throughout the year to work on crafts for the Bazaar. They also sell homemade candy for Valentine's Day and pies for Thanksgiving. The proceeds for all these events help to support various local, district, national, and worldwide mission projects.
S.O.A.R.
(Seniors Off And Running)

S.O.A.R. (Seniors Off And Running) is a group of senior adults who meet the 3rd Thursday of each month where plans for future outings, missions and events are discussed, and lunch is served.
"They will still bear fruit in old age; they will stay fresh and green”
Psalm 92:14 NIV
The biblical challenge to seniors to serve is clear. Whoever trusts in the Lord will continue to bear good fruit at every stage of their life. The certain promise of God to his people is that he will always be at work in and through us, regardless of our circumstances, abilities, or age.
The SOAR Ministry offers seniors an opportunity to continue their service to the Lord as they experience God’s grace and express God’s love to those around them through community endeavors and missions. We live in a world that frequently marginalizes and dismisses the role and value of older adults. This must not be so for God’s people, for older adults play a vital role in the life of the church.
Projects in which SOAR has recently participated:
-
Huntsville Military Veterans
-
U.S. Military Personal Care Packages
-
Hygiene Packets for homeless students
-

-

Prayers & Squares

Prayers and Squares is an interfaith outreach ministry that combines the gift of a hand-tied quilt with the gift of prayer for someone in need. They make prayer pillows that are given to Houston Methodist Hospital patients and make prayer quilts for members who are sick. The essence of this ministry is in the prayers offered for the recipient.
Canasta Club

Canasta is a very versatile and fun card game. It is a great game for socializing with small groups of people. Join us on Wednesdays at 11:00 am in the Fellowship Hall at the church. We will have a light lunch and then play Canasta. The more people that come, the more tables we will be able to have. If you already know how to play, come go over the rules and refresh your skills. If you don’t already know how to play, we will teach you and play some practice games. Join us on Wednesdays for fun and fellowship.

Age Level Ministries provides opportunities for growth in knowledge of our God, His son Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit. This is done in Sunday School Classes, special events for children (i.e. Vacation Bible School) and special studies offered during the year.
Family Ministries

Family Ministries builds and strengthens unity of the church body by encouraging members to grow closer to one another and thus grow closer to God. From shared observances of Christian holidays, meals, celebrations and recognition of milestones to the comforting reassurance in times of bereavement, Family Ministries encourages God's people to relate to one another with care, concern and compassion as a true family.
